Some color

We finally have our front room painted! I had to take Elliott out for a few hours because he was very excited about the painters. He is quite a gracious person. Every few minutes he was yelling "Hey guys! You can use my bathroom! Hey guys, you need this fork? Hey guys, come see my cool room!" So we got out and went strawberry picking at Hilgers. Our neighbor Emma tagged along and we really enjoyed ourselves. Finding clusters of bright red berries beneath the green plants is so exciting not matter how old I get.

The paint looks great and soon we will have a library and my precious books will be back out.
Speaking of "my precious," my birthday was last week and all I wanted was to watch the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy. We started the movies around 9pm 3 nights in a row. E was asleep on the couch 15 minutes into it and I didn't think he would remember any of it. So last night he picked up a necklace of mine that looks like a ring on a chain and started running. I caught him and he argued that he needed it "to throw it in the mountain so the ugly guy doesn't get it." I'm thinking about growing his hair out and teaching him archery.

New school

Elliott and I went to his preschool to fill out paperwork for next school year. Jamie and I are thrilled with it and we are excited to see what Elliott learns. We came during snack time so E followed a class and joined in. I was completing the application and listening in, hoping he was not going to say something wildly inappropriate. The 13 kids were quietly snacking when E says, "Hey guys, I love Scooby Dooby Doo!" The room erupted with excited kids talking about Scooby. I suppose Scooby is the ultimate ice breaker. Elliott will fit in just fine!

The Big Four

Yesterday was Elliott's 4th birthday! We had lunch at our place and it was so great to see our family and friends. Hooray for my brother Matt who came out all the way from St. Louis! We celebrated by going to a Fort Wayne Tincaps game where he threw the first pitch. It was seemingly rainy, windy, cloudy and sunny all at the same time so we only stayed through the 7th inning.
Jamie's family stayed the weekend with us so we celebrated Mother's Day before they went home to Pennsylvania. We went to a great buffet and then I took a long nap. Elliott has been asking all day if we can go to his birthday again so I guess that's his way of saying he had a great time.

Oh, Lady!

Today Jamie started yelling at the dog while I was making dinner. Apparently she used the front room as her own bathroom. Then he starts yelling to me, "You have to come in here and see this poop!" I am not in the mood to do this. Then he yells, "The poop is under the table, you have to see it!" I am literally 6 feet away from him, but I guess when talking about poop you have to yell. I go into the front room so he will stop talking about the poop. Then I see a beautiful bouquet of roses on the window seat. He honored our 6th anniversary by using his mad skills to disgust then delight me in a way only he can do.

But Ladybird really did poop on the carpet.

My favorite kid

I thought I would talk about how sweet Elliott has been this week. On Monday we were napping and I felt him pat my face and kiss my cheek. Today he was playing and he ran up to a nearly 2 year old boy. I thought he was going to tackle him when he started singing and holding the boy's hands, dancing with him. He is compassionate, too. Whenever he sees someone who that gotten hurt he stops what he is doing and rushes over to ask "Are you okay?" and he is quick to get a band-aid. My Grandma Rozzell (aka Turkeybird) always says that Elliott is such a blessing. He has blessed my family more than he will ever know.

Put some clothes on!

Today we were packing up to go to Greenfield. Elliott was in the house getting dressed and I was running in and out of the house to the car. We live a short walk away from an elementary school and for some reason all of the kids were walking past our house. I think they were walking to the high school across the street and it was nearly 150 kids. So I look at the kids while I'm loading up and I see two girls pointing at my front window. I rush inside to see my son standing full view naked for the world to see, grabbing himself and yelling, "Hey guys! Look at my penits!"
Now I'm worried that some angry partents will be knocking on my door demanding to know why my son was teaching anatomy to their daughters.

Easter

Elliott had a great Easter weekend. We spent Saturday with Krista & Tom and Sunday with my folks. We even got to visit his great-great grandma Priest to whom he sang 'Head Shoulders Knees and Toes'. He was a huge fan of hunting eggs at my dad's place but when it was time to hunt at my mom's he had fallen asleep in the car. We decided to drive back home instead of waking him up. Elliott woke up an hour and a half later and he was furious that we weren't at Memaw's! So after making a plea to Memaw it was decided that the next time we are out there we will look for eggs.

Who is Carol?

Last week Elliott and I both had colds and I ended up with an ear infection. Thanks for coming up and taking care of us, Memaw! My hearing is still terrible, but we finally feel better. So this week E was talking about his friend, Carol. "Carol is fun, I want Carol to play with me" and I don't even know a Carol. I was thinking about his favorite shows searching my brain for a character named Carol with no luck. I was beginning to wonder if he had an imaginary friend. Today we were in the car and Elliott started talking about Carol again and he mentioned playing with Brabra (Barb) who is Jamie's mom. I realized he had been talking about Harold who is Jamie's dad! Thanks to my ears being plugged up, I heard E say "Carol" instead of "Harold".
I'm really looking forward to hearing clearly again!

His latest discovery

I need to find Elliott's baby book to document another 1st! Today he was playing outside with our friend Emma and I heard her yell, "Lydia, Elliott is peeing in the mulch!" There he was in all of his glory with his hands on his hips and a huge grin on his face. He watered the mulch two more times before dinner. On a side note, I will have to watch his sweet tea intake more closely. He told me that peeing outside is fun and he will do it tomorrow. I haven't the slightest idea how he thought this one out, but I do know that this will have to be a backyard only activity.

Elliott's Big Back Poach

Hello friends and family! I decided to start a family blog because Elliott does at least one funny thing a day and it should be shared. We have been watching 'The Princess and the Frog' and he loves to pick up new language. Raymond the firefly has a great Cajun accent and refers to his behind as "My big back poach (porch)". So now Elliott is doing the same. Today he yelled, "Help! My big back poach is falling off this chair!"
